Chijioke Okafo Whip check
I got to sit down with Chijioke Okafo fir a bit the other night and have a quick little conversation about his new whip. Being 64’s newest rider has its perks, and Chij’s dialed machine shows it off in the best way possible. I ride with Chij pretty often, and I can confidently say he rides the most dialed machine I’ve ever had laid my eyes on. Dude has a weird thing with brakes, so naturally he basically has the most amazing set of stoppers ever. Chijioke run’s a tight set, so I got a bike check together, some photos, and asked him a couple questions about his ride.

Cory: Whattup dogg, new frame again? When did you get this one?
Chijioke: Ha ha, It was that time of the month. This one showed up bout a week or so ago. Courtesy of Big Bern at 64.
Cory: Big ups to 64 then. You switch your set-up a lot more than anyone I know though, any reason behind this at all?
Chijioke: Well, I work at a shop, so its easier than it would be for most people. I just get bored easy. And, you know more than anyone, if it ain’t fresh, hunnies dont dig it. Nahh mean?
Cory: You speak the truth. This one looks light though, tell me about your front wheel.
Chijioke: Yeah, its not the lightest set-up i’ve ever had, but pretty close. Ha ha, my front wheel is heavily influenced by my trials past. It’s drilled as much as it can be, without being as flimsy as a popcan. People see it and get worried, but its been perfect since day 1, so Im not worried. And the hub is the discontinued Proper magnati. 6.5 oz or something great. Rounded off with double butted spokes on my grind side, and titanium on the other.
Cory: Too wild. How much do you actually care about weight and dimensions? Does it matter to you at all?
Chijioke: Yeah, I’m really picky about how my bike feels. Im not so worried about dimensions of my frame (those I can get accustomed to), but I’ve gotta have a big bar, and my whip has to be sub 23 lbs. Just how I like it
Cory: Everything else looks pretty run of the mill. What parts do you go through the most? I mean this in like, the riding way, not just what you switch out every couple weeks haha.
Chijioke: Ha. I actually never break parts. I think the only BMX parts I’ve ever broken were a few wombolt arms. I stretch my brake cables to shit alot, though. Those get changed every 2 weeks or so. ha ha
Cory: Word, well thanks for sitting down with me for a minute. Any shout outs you wanna give right quick before we wrap this up?
Chijioke: Thanks for chewin the fat, brah. Um, RED, Bernie at 64, Jose at Joe Mammas, yourself [Cory Beal] for having the biggest dick in BMX, Brokeback, and Silva for constantly making fun of how much I switch my shit. Oh, and Jordan Savas cause I love him.

Man, Chijioke, this is really cool. I kind of doubt you’ll ever see this but in the event that you do… I just thought I’d let you know this is really impressive. And that I wish you all of the success in the world because you’re a decent guy and stuff.
I don’t know BMXer LINGO but uh… RIDE FREE, RIDE HARD or something.
Take care of yourself, too.
